The abductory twist is an observation made during a gait analysis in which there is a sudden abduction as the heel leaves the ground when walking:
It is generally considered to be of no real clinical significance and is just an observation that is made. There are plenty of questions in forums about it, but it is often misunderstood. It is related to “overpronation”, so its management and clinical significance are related to the issues surrounding that.
